A failure to detect CO(1-0) absorption from the hypothesized molecular torus in Cygnus A could be due to the high rotation temperature resulting from a strong compact radio source (Barvainis and Antonucci, AJ 107,#4, 1291). In that case, absorption should be seen for high J transitions, e.g. J=19-18, lambda = 145.0 micron. The determination of the linewidth could constrain the size of torus.
