===================================================================== ==> In this proposal, more time is being requested for HLAMERS.HOTSTARS ===================================================================== The purpose of the proposal is to study the two-component stellar winds and the circumstellar disks of B[e] supergiants in an attempt to understand the mechanism that is responsible for the formation of the disks. Studying B[e] supergiants with the SWS instruments will allow us to derive four important parameters that describe the the stellar wind and the disk. First, the IR free-free continuum is formed in the wind and will give a direct measure of the density structure of the ionized gas regions. Second, IR line profiles provides a measure for the ion density as a function of velocity. Third, the dust continuum determines the physical properties of the disk at large distance from the star. Fourth, the presence or absence of CO emission gives constraints on the density of the cold dust disk. We will model the observed spectra with a Non-LTE radiative transfer code for non-spherical geometries that is now being written by T. Lanz.
