Little is known about a large number of objects that appear from the IRAS survey to have steeply rising spectral energy spectra, and hence very low temperatures. This project is designed to determine the spectral energy distribution of a statistical sample of these cold sources in order to learn more about them. The prime objective is to measure details of the first stages of star formation, and determine the timescales involved. It is hoped that pure inflow sources, with no attendant outflows, may be identified
